At Least 17 Staff and Inmates Taken to Four Hospitals After Chemical Exposure at Newton Correctional Facility in Jasper County
Responders were called to the prison five miles south of Newton at about 10:56 a.m. Wednesday after people inside began getting sick. Semi Struck by Westbound Iowa Interstate Railroad Engine at 50th Street Crossing East of Grinnell; Driver Cut From Cab and Flown to Des Moines in Critical Condition
A westbound Iowa Interstate Railroad engine struck a semi at a gravel-road crossing in the 3800 block of 50th Street at about 4:27 p.m. Tuesday. Crews extricated the 64-year-old driver from the cab and airlifted him to Des Moines in critical condition; nobody on the train was hurt. Man Seriously Injured When Vehicle Rolls Onto Its Roof in Two-Vehicle Crash at Old Cheney Road and Hunts Drive in South Lincoln
