62-Year-Old Omaha Woman Dies After Fiery I-80 Crash Involving Two Semis Near 102nd Street
What happened
A 62-year-old Omaha woman has died after a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 80 near 102nd Street in Omaha late Wednesday night. According to WOWT, the crash happened shortly before 11 p.m. on July 30, 2026, and involved a Kenworth semi-truck, a Chevrolet Equinox, and a Peterbilt semi-truck. Initial reporting indicates the Kenworth was changing lanes when it struck the Equinox; the Equinox driver lost control, hit the concrete center barrier, and came back into the roadway, where the Peterbilt then struck it. The Equinox caught fire. The 62-year-old woman driving the Equinox was taken to CUMC-Bergan Mercy Hospital, where she later died. The interstate was shut down for hours and did not reopen until shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday.
