Our condolences
Whatever sent four people to the hospital in the middle of the night on the North Freeway, our hearts go out to everyone hurt and to the families who got the kind of phone call no one wants at 12:40 in the morning. We hope for a full and fast recovery for everyone involved, especially the person whose injuries are life-threatening.
Safety context
Crashes that happen late at night or in the early morning hours carry outsized risk. Nationally, more than half of all fatal motor vehicle crashes — 51.51% in the most recent detailed federal breakdown — occur at night, even though nighttime hours account for a much smaller share of the miles Americans actually drive, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Traffic Safety Facts report (NHTSA). Reduced visibility, driver fatigue, and a higher likelihood of encountering an impaired driver all contribute to that gap. Extra caution — slower speeds, full attention, and a willingness to pull over if you're too tired to drive safely — matters most in exactly the hours when this crash occurred.
The rights of families after a crash like this
In crashes like this one, where a vehicle collision leaves someone with life-threatening injuries, the people hurt and their families often have legal claims against whichever driver or drivers caused the crash, and against that driver's insurance company. Because the facts here — what caused the crash, how many vehicles were involved, and who was driving what — have not yet been publicly reported, it isn't possible to say anything specific about fault at this time. What can be said in general is that Nebraska law allows injured people to pursue compensation for medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and other losses from an at-fault driver, and that the same right may extend to a family if a loved one doesn't survive their injuries. As more facts about this crash become public, that picture may become clearer.

How I help families in crisis
A crash like this can turn a family's life upside down in an instant — one moment everything is normal, and the next, someone you love is fighting for their life in a hospital bed. My job in moments like this is to take that stress off a family's shoulders, take up the shield to protect and advocate for the rights of the people I represent, and guide them through one of the hardest chapters of their lives, so they can focus on their loved one's recovery instead of fighting with an insurance company.
When the facts of a crash like this become clearer, I move quickly to gather and preserve the evidence that matters most — police reports, 911 and dispatch records, physical evidence at the scene, and any nearby camera footage — before it's lost or overwritten. I deal directly with insurance adjusters so my clients don't have to, and I fight to make sure every loss, medical, financial, and personal, is accounted for.
I've recovered more than $23 million for injured people and their families, and I'm proud of the trust reflected in countless five-star client reviews and peer endorsements, including Best of Omaha for personal injury in both 2025 and 2026.
If you or someone you love was affected by this crash or one like it, I offer a free, no-pressure conversation, and if I take your case, there's no fee unless I win.
