What happened
A 75-year-old Denison woman was killed and two other people were seriously injured in a crash at the intersection of Highway 30 Diagonal and 210th Street in Greene County, Iowa, Friday afternoon. According to NorthIowaToday.com, the crash happened at approximately 12:55 p.m. Marcia Lucile Bachmann, 75, of Denison, was driving a 2018 Toyota Prius southeast on Highway 30 Diagonal when a 2019 Ford Escape pulled away from a stop sign on 210th Street and into her path. The Escape was driven by Frizabel Anwi Waki, 27, of Lincoln, Nebraska, who was traveling west on 210th Street with a passenger, Mbachokieng Claudine Ngum, 27, of West Des Moines. Bachmann suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Waki and Ngum suffered serious injuries and were both transported to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines; the report notes all three occupants were wearing seatbelts, which investigators credited with helping Waki and Ngum survive.
