Named to the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 for Civil Plaintiff Work

Today I was extended membership in the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 for civil plaintiff work, for 2026 into 2027. It's an honor I'm proud of, and in keeping with how I run this site, I want to tell you what it is, how it's decided, and where you can verify it — not just hang the plaque.

What the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Is

The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 and Top 40 Under 40 are prestigious, invitation-only organizations recognizing the nation's top trial lawyers in civil plaintiff and criminal defense law. Membership is extended only to a select few of the most qualified attorneys from each state or region who demonstrate superior qualifications of leadership, reputation, influence, stature, and public profile, measured by objective and uniformly applied standards in compliance with state bar and model rules. The Top 100 honors attorneys of all ages, while the Top 40 Under 40 celebrates the rising stars of the legal field.

For me this recognition closes a loop: earlier in my career, the same organization named me to its Top 40 Under 40. Being invited into the Top 100 — the tier that considers accomplished trial lawyers of every age, not just the rising ones — is the kind of progression that means something to me, because it reflects the years of trial work in between: the verdicts, the judgments, and the settlements that I publish on this site for anyone to examine.

Verify It Yourself

My membership is listed in the National Trial Lawyers' public directory — you can see my member profile here. I keep every honor I hold on my awards page, where I also explain, candidly, how to weigh attorney awards in general — which ones are peer-reviewed, which are client-driven, and which, like this one, are invitation honors. I would never ask you to hire me because of a membership. What I'd point you to instead is the record it reflects.

The same week this membership arrived, the District Court of Woodbury County, Iowa entered a $250,000 judgment for a young boy attacked by a neighbor's dogs in his own front yard. That's the work the recognition stands on — and the work that matters.

What It Means for My Clients

Recognitions like this one matter to clients for a practical reason: insurance companies know which lawyers try cases and which lawyers fold. A national trial-lawyer membership, more than $23 million recovered, 42 published case results, and 41 five-star client reviews tell an adjuster that lowballing my client is a bad bet. When I take your case, everything behind this recognition — the preparation, the trial readiness, the refusal to take the easy number — goes to work for you.

This post is attorney advertising and general legal information, not legal advice. Reading it does not create an attorney-client relationship. Memberships and awards are not a guarantee of outcome; past results do not guarantee future outcomes.
